VISION STATEMENT
Kerang Baptist Church exists to glorify God, to encourage fellowship and unity, to nurture spiritual growth, based on God’s Word and to present Christ to the community and this lost world.
STATEMENT ON CHURCH COMMITMENT TO A SAFE PLACE
Kerang Baptist Church is committed to providing a church environment that is physically, emotionally, culturally and spiritually safe for everyone. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend our church or participate in our programs and ministries. We have developed policies and procedures to guide us, drawing on the frameworks provided by the Baptist Union of Victoria and the Victorian Commission for Children and Young People.
What we Believe (Statement of Faith)

- We believe in the Divine inspiration, the infallibility and supreme authority of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety and that the Holy Spirit so moved the writers that what they wrote are authoritative statements of truth for all matters of faith and conduct. (1 Corinthians 2:7–14; 2 Peter 1:20–21)
- We believe there is one God in whom there are, three equal Divine Persons, revealed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; and who of His own sovereign Will created the heavens, the
earth and all that is contained within the Universe. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14) - We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternally existing, only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin. (Luke 1:35; Galatians 4:4–5). As God He became flesh and dwelt among us; as man He was God. (John 1:1; John 1:14)
- We believe that all people are in a fallen, sinful and lost condition through the rebellion of Adam and Eve, who were created without sin. In this state of depravity they are helpless to save themselves and are under the condemnation of God to eternal punishment in Hell. (Psalm 14:1–3; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:9–18, 23; Revelation 20:15)
- We believe that salvation from the penalty and consequences of sin is found only through the substitutionary, atoning death, resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8–10; 1 Peter 1:18–19).
- We believe it is the Holy Spirit alone who convicts people of sin, leads them to repentance, creates faith within them and regenerates and fills those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord. It is the indwelling Spirit who bestows the Gifts of the Spirit and manifests the Fruit of the Spirit in the believer. (John 16:7-11; Titus 3:5; Acts 2:2-28; Galatians 5:22-23)
- We believe Christ died for Our sins, was buried and the third day rose from the dead; that He appeared to men who touched Him and knew His bodily presence and that He ascended to His Father. (1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Luke 24:39; Acts 1:9-11)
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person with His saints and that the full consummation of the Kingdom of God awaits His return. (1 Thessalonians 3:13; 4:13–18; Revelation 20:1-7)
- We believe those who have been regenerated, i.e. born again, by the Holy Spirit will receive a resurrection body at the return of Jesus Christ and be forever with the Lord, while those who have not believed will be resurrected to stand at the Judgement Seat of God, to receive His judgement and eternal condemnation to Hell. (Titus 3:5-7; Matthew 25:31-34; Revelation 20:11-15)
- We believe in the actual existence of Satan – who is the father of all evil and opposed to God although ultimately subject to the purposes of God and destined to be confined forever to Hell. (Isaiah 11:11-15; John 8:44; Revelation 20:10)
- We believe the Church is the Body of Christ composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, which finds its visible manifestation in the local community of believers and ministers through the cooperative exercise of God-given gifts by the entire membership. Each local community of believers is competent under Christ as Head of the Church to order its life without interference from any authority whether civil or ecclesiastical. (1 Corinthians 12:1-14; Colossians 1:18)
- We believe that the Biblical model of marriage is between one man and one woman who have joined together in a covenant union according to Scripture. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6)
- We believe in the two ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ; namely; Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which are of perpetual obligation: • Baptism being the immersion of believers upon the profession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and symbol of the regenerate in His Death, Burial & Resurrection. (Acts 2:41–42; Acts 8:36–39; Matthew 28:18-20). The Lord’s Supper being a memorial “until He comes” of the sacrifice of the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
